HOW TO GET THERE

Welcome to Dipoli! Dipoli is Aalto University’s main building. During decades the building has seen a lot: art, science, innovations and true student culture, like parties and music events – and now it’s hosting Europe’s biggest hackathon (again!). We have written a longer piece on the history of the building, which you can read here!

ADDRESS

Dipoli
Otakaari 24
Otaniemi
02150 Espoo, Finland

ARRIVING BY PLANE OR FROM CITY CENTRE

From Helsinki Airport, take Trains I or P towards Helsinki. At the last stop, the Central Railway Station, change to a metro.

In Finland we only have one metro line, so you can’t miss it. Just take the metro heading to Matinkylä or Tapiola and you’ll find Dipoli with ease. Make sure to get off on the right stop at Aalto University!

BUSES FROM FINLAND AND RUSSIA

Buses will be traveling directly to Junction from St. Petersburg. For confirmed participants more information will be sent soon.

REGISTRATION

The doors to the venue and registration open at 16.00. The registration happens at the tent right outside the actual venue.

You will also be able to register throughout the day on Friday already at Terminal 2 in Helsinki Airport.

PARKING

The venue does not have designated parking. There are some parking areas around Otaniemi but it’s more reliable to arrive by using public transport.

PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION IN FINLAND

Helsinki metropolitan area public transportation is arranged by HSL. You can find schedules, route information and more from https://www.hsl.fi/en. The two best alternatives for journey planning are https://reittiopas.hsl.fi/ and Google Maps.

Easiest way to get to Dipoli is by Metro, getting of at Aalto University station. Tickets can be purchased from metro stations and at the airport by the train station. There are also multiple places to purchase tickets, ex. all R-Kioski shops. You can also download the HSL-app to your phone and buy tickets from there – unfortunately, no student discount this way.

Overall, public transportation in Helsinki area is very reliable and mostly on time. Do notice, that the metro stops around midnight. During the night you can grab a night bus, or use apps like Uber and Taxify.
